MEET the a-lister from University of Phoenix - Lisa Henriksen

AI is a great opportunity to support the work our teams are doing in new ways. RPA will free our teams to focus more time on direct interactions with our students. We see this an opportunity for our teams and students, as they will be able to dedicate more time to support students’ success.
- Lisa Henriksen Director of Student Services, University of Phoenix

Tell us about your career journey to date and what sparked your interest in Intelligent Automation.

I’ve been with University of Phoenix for 16 years, however I started as an MBA student with UOPX in Oregon prior to working for the University. When I moved to Arizona from Oregon in 2004, I left my career as a treatment counselor, and started as an academic counselor with UOPX. I moved into a leadership role quickly and have been a Director in the Student Services department for the past 13 years. In the past few years, University of Phoenix has transitioned to an agile structure and I had the opportunity to begin working with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) as a Product Manager.
What was behind the need to change/implement the AAI automation solution?

University of Phoenix is focused on providing world-class service and high-value programs and technologies to our students. To do this, we have focused on digitally evolving how we deliver our programs and services. We serve a large population of students in our online environment, which requires us to be focused on meeting the needs of our student populations in an ever-changing landscape.
Intelligent Automation is one of the fastest growing technologies. What do you think about it and how do you feel it will affect how people will work in the future?

AI is a great opportunity to support the work our teams are doing in new ways. RPA will free our teams to focus more time on direct interactions with our students. We see this an opportunity for our teams and students, as they will be able to dedicate more time to support students’ success.
If you could what are the bots that you would like to create to help you in your personal and work life?

In these times, I’d love a bot that manages my kid's schoolwork, due dates, assignment submissions, zoom meetings, etc. Spending the day working at home, while they are at “school” with me has been challenging. Navigating through each teachers/course information has been difficult to find and manage. I’d welcome a bot that can manage all that for me!
What excites you about Intelligent Automation, ML, and AI in the future?

Giving time back to our teams so they can focus on activities that help our students succeed and graduate is exciting to me. University of Phoenix is focused on serving the needs of our students and doing all we can to help support their success to graduation. Students come first at UOPX, so being able to leverage different AI technologies to provide an even better experience for our students is exciting.
