For years, enterprises have faced a frustrating reality: automation tools worked beautifully in Windows environments and server workloads, but left Mac users—and the growing number of hybrid teams—partially in the dark.
That era is now over.
Our latest update brings native macOS support to Automation Anywhere's Agentic Process Automation (APA) System. Your automation workflows can now run seamlessly across Windows, Linux, and macOS—no more workarounds, no more “Sorry, Mac users will have to do this manually.”
This isn’t just about checking a compatibility box. It’s about acknowledging that modern work happens everywhere—and automation should too.
This expansion isn’t just about platform parity; it’s about giving enterprises a strategic advantage.
macOS has rapidly emerged as a critical enterprise platform, now powering 23% of computers at large U.S. enterprises and capturing 16% of the global enterprise desktop market, with over 100 million users worldwide. Apple’s growing enterprise footprint—driven by employee preference, strong security, and reliable performance—makes it essential for any future-focused automation strategy.
While businesses have embraced automation and AI at unprecedented scale, macOS users have been relegated to expensive, inefficient workarounds like virtual machines. Our native macOS support eliminates these barriers, delivering the same powerful capabilities that have made Automation Anywhere the platform of choice for many enterprise leaders.
By extending our industry-leading openness and extensibility to macOS, we’re not just filling a gap—we’re unlocking the next wave of enterprise automation success.
We’re thrilled to introduce macOS support in the latest APA System release—empowering teams with attended and unattended automation, native integration with macOS applications, and support for the broader macOS ecosystem. Now, both citizen developers and automation professionals can design, record, deploy, and manage enterprise-grade automations at scale across Mac environments.
By extending macOS capabilities within our platform, organizations can now build truly cross-platform automations that boost adoption, drive innovation, and close long-standing gaps in hybrid IT environments. Teams can finally say “yes” to automating workflows in Safari, Apple Mail, iWork, SAP, and other enterprise systems—and “no” to the painful, time-consuming need for virtual machines. This is a major leap forward in advancing the autonomous enterprise and enabling seamless automation across the entire organization.
Note: The APA System with macOS support will be generally available in the v.37 release across on-premises, public cloud, and Community Edition by the end of Q2 2025.
Now, citizen developers and automation pros can easily build automations for macOS right from their Macs using Chrome or Safari. Workflows can include interactions with macOS-native applications, web applications, and even Java-based systems like SAP GUI, all running directly on local machines.
Thanks to the enhanced recorder package, capturing interactions across web and native apps is seamless, making it simple to fold them into larger automation tasks.
Together, these updates deliver a unified, intuitive development experience—whether you’re working on macOS or Windows—and make it easier than ever to create and scale cross-platform automations that drive real impact.
With the APA System’s latest update, macOS users can finally tap into the full power of both attended and unattended automations—running scheduled tasks and business processes without lifting a finger. Nightly data crunching, automated report generation, or customer follow-ups now run smoothly on scalable macOS device pools using Workload Management (WLM) queues. This isn’t just about ticking off small tasks anymore; it’s about unlocking robust, repeatable automations that boost productivity and help teams work smarter across macOS and browser applications.
For IT teams, managing macOS devices at scale just got a whole lot easier. With auto-registration and bulk deployment tools, bot agents can be onboarded and configured effortlessly, whether on a handful of test machines or hundreds of production systems. These upgrades slash IT overhead, accelerate deployment, and make it easier to expand automation across the organization. With native macOS support, everyone—from developers to IT leaders—gets the tools to push enterprise automation to the next level.
This release opens the door to a whole new world of macOS automation possibilities:
On top of that, developers can leverage the Package SDK and Connector Builder to create custom packages—extending automation into niche, proprietary, or complex macOS applications and unlocking virtually limitless possibilities.
These enhancements mean our platform doesn’t just work on macOS—it works with macOS, giving users the power to automate smarter, faster, and more creatively across their favorite Apple tools.
With the APA System’s expanded macOS support, the future of enterprise automation just got a lot more inclusive. No more workarounds. No more limits. Just seamless, scalable, cross-platform automation that empowers every user, developer, and IT team to move faster and work smarter.
Native macOS support opens the door to truly enterprise-wide AI and automation possibilities. It answers the call for robust macOS automation and gives teams the tools to harness the full power of the autonomous enterprise, no matter what device they use.
As macOS keeps gaining ground in the workplace, one thing is clear: the companies that embrace this shift won’t just keep up—they’ll set the pace, leaving the competition in the dust.
Ready to dive in? Learn how our Agentic Process Automation System empowers you to do more, go faster, and stay in control as you build your autonomous enterprise.
