Read on for highlights of the innovations, enhancements, and updates in Automation 360 v.37. Or, to dive into the details, you can explore this latest release through alternate channels:

When to expect v.37

  • Automation 360 v.37, the on-premises release, was Generally Available as of the week of June 16, 2025. Process Orchestration and Safari browser support for macOS features are scheduled to arrive in late June 2025.
  • Automation 360 Cloud will be updated between July 09, 2025, and the week of July 21, 2025.

Powering automation innovation with the Process Reasoning Engine

When we announced the industry-first Process Reasoning Engine (PRE) earlier this year, it introduced capabilities that understand enterprise context and drive work to achieve outcomes even when orchestrating agents across vendors. PRE is now propelling advanced AI products that deliver the future of work through generative automation, self-healing automation, and advanced document processing, and enables AI agents to plan, act, and learn continuously.

This release augments PRE with the crucial context necessary for COEs to accelerate the development of agentic process automation at scale. Here is just a glimpse of what PRE delivers:

  • Build 3x faster with advanced models: New planning and reasoning capabilities let developers design, build, and configure automations with greater accuracy and completeness. Co-Pilot for Automators applies best practices like naming conventions and exception handling, creates and configures variables, and writes Python, Java, and VB code—all automatically.
  • AI Governance adds transparency for Co-Pilot for Automators: Administrators can view prompt and event logs, Co-Pilot responses, and user feedback for each prompt.
  • Self-healing automations with vision fallback: Generative Recorder can slash automation failures by 60% by combining visual and structural insights from live application screens. Automations become more resilient, adaptive, and enterprise-ready even as business applications evolve. The new vision fallback capability leverages a sophisticated ensemble of AI models, including Vision Language Models (VLMs), AISense object detection, OCR, and more to deliver powerful self-healing even in complex, dynamic UIs.

Note that the new planning and reasoning capabilities are available to Public Cloud customers only.

Turning natural language into action to enhance human-agent collaboration

We are redefining the employee experience in the era of AI agents through a new conversational interface powered by Automation Co-Pilot.

Users can retrieve accurate, source-attributed information from company systems and documents, and trigger automated processes, using natural language prompts from a single, unified experience. This results in faster outcomes, fewer manual steps, and a more intuitive way to work, and it can be used standalone or embedded in any application.

Key capabilities include:

  • Intent-based automation discovery, powered by PRE, helps users find and launch the right automation instantly while respecting existing role-based access controls.
  • Enterprise-grade data security safeguards sensitive information, ensuring users only see what they're authorized to see while balancing visibility with security.
  • Built-in auditing and governance capabilities provide visibility into conversational interactions and automation activity, helping organizations stay compliant with regulatory and internal policies.

Note that human-agent collaboration is part of the Automation Co-Pilot Plus license and is only available to Public Cloud AWS customers in North America. EMEA customers are scheduled to gain access to these capabilities in August 2025.

Advanced process modeling and real-time execution

We continue to transform how enterprise teams build, manage, and scale agentic process automation. With a modern design and streamlined navigation, our new Process Orchestration engine brings together visual modeling, real-time insights, and advanced orchestration across AI agents, bots, documents, APIs, and teams.

Highlights of these Process Orchestration enhancements include:

  • Streamlined process modeling and optimization let users visually model complex workflows using BPMN with swim lanes, design modular and reusable logic with support for unlinked nodes, and navigate large-scale processes easily with minimap, pan, and zoom tools.
  • A unified orchestration layer to coordinate bots, APIs, documents, and teams within a single, cohesive workflow enables event-driven automation using web triggers, with server-side filters to process only relevant incoming data, reducing system load and boosting performance. Note that an Enterprise Platform license is required to execute web triggers, and it is currently available to customers on Public Cloud AWS only.
  • Workload management at scale lets automation leaders process multiple queues in parallel across available devices, dramatically improving workload throughput. This drives faster SLAs through parallelism, optimum license and device utilization, and simplified workload management.
  • An enhanced developer experience with smart navigation breadcrumbs that streamline movement between assets and editors, access to an in-app Help Center for instant contextual guidance, and faster development with a wizard-based Expression Builder and improved validation and error handling.

Deploy on any platform, including macOS

This release expands automation capabilities to a growing segment of enterprise macOS users across all deployment models. With comprehensive support for web applications, macOS native applications, and macOS devices, citizen developers and enterprise teams can seamlessly build and run both attended and unattended automations to unlock broader and more scalable use cases.

Highlights of our macOS enhancements include:

  • Seamless macOS automation development where citizen developers and automation professionals can build automations involving both macOS native and web applications directly on their macOS desktops for a consistent development experience across macOS and Windows.
  • Web and macOS native application recording enables developers to capture user interactions in browser-based web apps and native macOS applications to simplify the creation of precise, repeatable automation workflows within the macOS environment.
  • Attended and unattended automation support for the execution of scheduled tasks and business processes without manual intervention. From nightly data aggregation and report generation to customer follow-ups, processes can run reliably across scalable macOS device pools and Workload Management (WLM) queues.
  • Extensible support for native macOS applications with the addition of key automation packages:
    • iWork Suite integration to automate report creation, data entry, analysis, and other workflows using Apple Mail, Numbers, and Keynote.
    • Mail automation to read, draft, and send emails with attachments.
    • AppleScript support in automations to customize interactions with third-party or legacy applications.

Additionally, developers can utilize the Package SDK to create custom macOS packages, enabling automation for proprietary, niche, or complex applications and achieving enterprise-grade coverage across the entire macOS ecosystem.

Note that macOS support will be generally available across Public Cloud, Private Cloud, and Community Edition.

A few more things...

Additional updates in v.37 include:

  • Sensitivity label support in Excel automation. Enhancements to the Excel Advanced package support sensitivity labels managed through the Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal. The sensitivity label can be applied and retrieved to or from an Excel file using the respective Set and Get sensitivity label actions within the package. This allows you to classify documents as general, confidential, highly confidential, and more, and enforce protection policies such as encryption and access control.

This feature also helps customers ensure Excel documents remain compliant with internal security policies, reduce the risk of data breaches and regulatory non-compliance, and protect sensitive information by controlling access and applying consistent classification.
  • Co-run Python scripts across multiple automations with a shared session. Python script package enhancements support a global session that can be shared across parent and child automations. Previously, each child automation using a Python script initiated a new Python session, which led to maintenance overhead and slower performance. With the shared session capability, customers can now avoid duplicate sessions, maintain session continuity across automation boundaries, and improve overall performance and efficiency.
  • Grouping by automation run hours to realize your most valuable automations, devices, and users. Automation run hours are one of the key metrics for understanding the adoption of automation in your enterprise. The grouping feature in Automation Command Centre (ACC) now gives you crucial information to ensure top automations are only developed by pro developers, top devices are maintained in optimal health with frequent upgrades, and top users receive the best resources to continue providing value.
