Automation Anywhere to Contribute Tech Perspective at the KPMG Global Energy Conference

Written by Automation Anywhere in Press on May 20, 2015

SAN JOSE, CA – May 20, 2015 – Automation Anywhere, a pacesetting provider of robotic process automation software, today announced that CEO Mihir Shukla will be providing a tech perspective for the “Enabling Disruptive Technologies” panel at the 13th annual KPMG Global Energy Conference (GEC) in Houston, this week.

The GEC brings together senior energy executives and thought leaders from oil, gas, power and utility industries to discuss the biggest trends and challenges facing the energy sector. This year the conference is placing a particular focus on innovation, transformation, and disruption, and other macro-trends affecting the energy industry. Among the trends is robotics, including robotic process automation (RPA) software. The “Enabling Disruptive Technologies” panel discussion will further explore the potential of RPA and how businesses can prepare for, implement, and leverage it more rapidly.

“While this technology is still relatively new, companies are adopting it on a global level,” said Cliff Justice, KPMG Advisory Principal and U.S. leader, Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory (SSOA). “In the next three to five years, as RPA and cognitive technologies converge, evolving or automating many tasks previously done by humans, the impact will be game-changing.”

Energy providers are already leveraging RPA software to automate processes that need to run 24 hours a day, flawlessly. The software not only reduces the amount of time it takes to complete processes, but also reduces the potential for error, improves regulatory compliance, and dramatically increases productivity. One electric power utility provider in New York was able to script a process that would have taken 30 hours to create in 20 minutes.

“The application of RPA software to the energy industry can lead to absolutely tremendous benefits, not the least of which is reduction in business variability,” said Doug Bell, VP of Marketing at Automation Anywhere. “We’re looking forward to digging into the topic with industry leaders in oil, gas, power, and utilities at the KPMG conference, and better understanding how RPA can solve their unique challenges and continue to propel their businesses forward now and in the future.”

“The GEC brings together thought leaders from around the world – and among various industries – to explore emerging business trends transforming the industry. The disruptive technologies panel will be instrumental in driving discussion on transformative, forward-thinking ideas affecting the energy industry and business overall,” said John Kunasek, national sector leader for energy and natural resources at KPMG LLP.

The conference will take place May 20-21 in Houston, TX at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The “Enabling Disruptive Technologies” session will be held May 21 at 10:15 a.m.
