Robots are already in just can’t see them

Robots in salesWe may not as a society feel quite ready for robot salespeople, but whether we’re prepared or not, robots are already in the sales world. They might not be reaching out their shiny, robotic hands and leading us to the product we’re looking for, or telling us in charmingly robotic monotone about in-store promotions, but they are transforming the way organizations around the world run their sales processes. 

We’re talking about software robots, automating tasks that would otherwise stall sales in areas such as quote-to-cash, reporting, or customer satisfaction. 


Reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) is a major initiative in companies today, and streamlining the systems involved in collecting cash is an important step in those improvements, and becoming a more profitable organization. A key area where companies have found value (and where organizations such as BPOs are now exploring more fully) is the order-to-cash process. The amount of processes within this sales flow are practically innumerable—from order to quote to fulfillment and beyond. If errors creep into any of these processes they can be highly detrimental to a company, whether it’s losing hundreds of thousands of dollars through oversights, or losing a key account due to lack of customer satisfaction. Companies today won’t settle for that, especially when tasks like downloading order details from the web, processing orders to create invoices, printing invoices, backing up databases, and email notifications regarding the sales process can all be automated with extremely low error incidence.
