"Hi, I design systems for intelligent homes using Lonworks. I had somehow to extract the information of water and LP gas leakage, as well as smoke detectors in order to send SMS messages to a cell phone and advise of any of these kind of alarms. What I did is to program tasks using Automation Anywhere. So with a loop running each 5 minutes, the task goes into an Internet Explorer page, connects to the iLon 100 (Internet Web server from LonWorks), explores the Data Points of each sensor, and in case of a state of "ON" (Alarm Active), then opens another Internet Explorer Web Page, connecting to "Telcel" (which in Mexico is the cell phone provider), writes the cell phone number, and then the message (i.e. "Water leakage detected on main Bathroom!!!), then closes this page, and goes to the next data point. When the loop is finished, and explores all the data points, waits 5 minutes, and then starts ageing. I found this solution a very nice one since I couldn't link the two systems before. "I am an attorney who has to keep track of all my time spent for clients throughout the day. Our firm uses Timeslips for our time entry. Since entering my time takes me about 3 hours per month (7-10 minutes per day), I was determined to find a way to make this process more efficient. Throughout the day, I keep all of my detailed time records in Excel. This is beneficial because it lets me sort and find data very easily, and it makes hours tracking easier. Once my time is in Excel, all I have to do is import 4 line items per entry. With Automation Anywhere, I was able to input a month's worth of time by just letting a simple macro I created in the software to run for about 45 minutes. "This has to be the best automation software around. I tried the competition and even combined they offer only a tiny fraction of the functionality of this program! The first macro I wrote will save me about 20 minutes every day. This updates a database from online resources that I did manually. Windows scheduler could never perform this task because it requires user input. Setting up the macro took about 2 minutes. Editing it about another 2 minutes. I schedule it to run after midnight and now I don't have to worry about it. I am now creating a list of regular tasks that can be done using Automation.. Excellent work guys!"
