Record a script to perform a GUI testing of any application. The following example records and tests various menu options in the notepad application.

Record a new test
- Start recording a new test by clicking on 'Record' button.
- Select ‘SMART Recorder’ option and record all the actions that you need to test.
- Insert required checkpoints during recording using ‘Check Point’ button. Screenshot1

Test the UI of your application
- Open a notepad window.
- Navigate to different menu items like File->Open, File->Save As, File->Page Setup, Edit->Find, etc.
- Each menu item will open a new window for e.g. Edit->Replace will open a 'Replace' window. Record a click in the 'Replace' window by clicking on Cancel or OK button.
Testing Anywhere intelligently records your activities in all the different windows. Now when you replay the test case and if any of the menu items are not working and does not open the expected window, Testing Anywhere will report an error. |
Note: The following example is recorded in a notepad window to illustrate how you can use Testing Anywhere to test any other application. |

| When you run this test, it opens a notepad window and goes through various menu items and clicks on Cancel/OK button of respective windows that open up. We can check the all the checkpoints status using test logs. |

| We are currently using the software to do functional and performance testing of our customized version of Microsoft CRM. In addition, we are also using it for functional testing of a custom, in-house, financial application, and to do quality assurance on a CD that contains encrypted Adobe .pdf files, that are distributed for us by a third-party vendor. It allows us to do repeatable, reliable performance and functional testing, load test data with only “one-click”, and verify third-party vendors work. It saves us time and money, because after the initial “ramp-up” time learning it, we can quickly write tests that perform hours of work in only minutes. A great test tool, that we highly recommend!
